My commitment (also offered on a voluntary basis) was started within an association and continued in a personal capacity. During time off from work and family answering phone calls from people asking for help:
1) in 90% of cases,
not for themselves but for family, Friends and acquaintances who had stumbled on a cult
2) the remaining 10% - 2a)
a fraction of the calls came from people who were still affiliated to a group and, in this case, these were people in crisis
for some reason I had doubts about their own affiliate
- 2b) an even smaller number of people called for help after have made the choice to leave the group.
What was my attitude and I was offering assistance to those who put me in the face of these demands? First, it is still early days, I followed the directions of those who had more experience than me.
This is because there is no
training center, there
an internship or a preliminary stage of knowledge for anyone involved in these cases.
Beginners, armed with good will and desire to help, just begins. Without this necessary (and
disturbing) premise, I would point out that the assistance and advice in the first phase took place by telephone and then with direct meetings. E 'difficult briefly explain reality and different situations with each other. However I think it is possible to identify some common elements, some
constants present in the vast majority of cases. The next "step" will be dedicated to telling these "constants", but also find the time to enhance the
